Aces

Charlie Casey (Bass) Steve Tannett (Guitar) Noel Martin (Drums)
Formed from the remnants of Menace following a brief stint with Vermillion and the Aces the lads enjoyed some success with this line up. Very little was written about the band so there is very little on the web. I will try and find some stuff to update the site and keep it interesting so check back from time to time.

1. How did the band form?

Formed out of the core of Menace following a stint as Vermillion and the Aces

2. How did you come up with the band's name?

The name in from Menace i.e. the last three letters

3. Why did you choose that style of music?

It was a progression from what we were doing with vermillion

4. How was the singer chosen?

I effect by default. Steve and I both sang but he was standing up.

5. Did you do any gigs?

Lots

6. If yes, what was the reaction?

We went down pretty well lots of positive input

7. How did you get your record deal?

It was our own label

8. Were any songs left out? If so, why?

We only recorded Two songs out of about 14

9. Did the band do any promotions for your releases?

Not much it was all fairly low key

10. What did you/band think of the review in Smash Hits?

Surprised after trying so hard with menace

11. What was the UK reaction to your releases?

To be fare we got a great reaction at gigs but were not fashionable so the press did not take much notice of us

12. Was there any possibility of another single or EP?

No Steve moved on. Right now Charlie and I are in the reformed Menace. Interestingly enough we re recorded one way street on the Crisis Album 2001

13. Did you hope to continue on Etc., or did you look for another record deal?

No we still own Etc but have no plans to release anything on it

14. What was the process of the band's break up and why?

It just slowed down and ground to a halt mainly down to lack of interest by the business.

14. What did the band do after the break up?

I formed a band called Ghost Dance later to be known as . Steve managed us for a while but then got to busy with Miles Copeland. That band done well but did not record. Later Steve Charlie and I played in a band called the Collection again Steve got to busy so left no recordings

15. (saved to the end) What are the band now doing?

Right now Charlie and I play for the Band which started it all off Menace. Check out the Web site www.menace77.co.uk  Steve recently played on the new Album Rogues Gallery. The track is called Don’t Patronise me which is a re write of the Aces song “Got Everything in Life worth having”. His Mug shot is on the Album cover.

Steve Charlie and I really enjoyed the period we played as the Aces. This is because the music was from the heart and we were friends from school. We were more famous for the music we done as Menace which is why, we, that is Charlie and I have returned to our roots. Be sure if you remember the Aces live you would see and hear a little of their legacy in Menace
